Sweets autumn celebrations in Sicily



You know, summer is the best season to spend inSicily. Autumns events all aroundSicily give the chance to taste and enjoy them. Ottobrata in Zafferana Etnea and Sagra del Pistacchio in Bronte, both in the Catania district, are the main fairs  which celebrate autumn arrival.

Ottobrata was born more then thirty years ago and it is now one of the most important cultural/trade event in the territory. The stands along the fair show delicacies and wine and food specialities and local craftsmanship. Entertainment is a relevant element of Ottobrata in facts acrobats, flag flyer and musicians accompany the fair.

Bronte is the city of “green gold”, the DOP Sicilian pistachio which follows a strict harvest and working process.

Pistachio was known by Greeks and Romans, but Arabians bring the cultivation inSicily, discovering a spontaneous grows in Bronte’s  volcanic territory, 300/900 mt over the sea- level. Sicilian cookery makes use of pistachio: it is tasty on first and second courses, but it is delicious in confectionary. It is impossible to resist to a “cannolo” full of pistachio’s cream!
